I’ve been a practicing psychotherapist for 30 years, here in Prague serving the international community since shortly after the change of regime. After astrological horoscopes confirmed over and over again with such startling accuracy the psycho-spiritual dynamics I was seeing in individual clients and couples, I couldn’t resist any longer ‘coming out’ as a therapist who worked astrologically. I was hesitant about the dubious reputation of both tarot and astrology but this gave way in the face of their enormous potential to convey sensitively what goes on inside of us.

And this is a time is when their insight can be put to good use. The astrology of our time bears out that accelerated change is now upon us for the rest of this decade. The outer planets of Pluto and Uranus have just come into an unusually intense and creative configuration which shows that collectively we are at a turning point. This theme has been picked up by the preoccupation with the year 2012 as an end-time. While I don’t think apocalyptic thinking is useful, it signals that people are registering the stress and strain of this possible turning point and are struggling for ways to respond creatively in their own lives. My clients in Europe and the U.S. over the past several months have been strikingly representative of this accelerating development, especially in certain age groups. My aim is to offer astrological and tarot perspectives to help clarify the archetypal forces at work now, in and around us, and to show how each of us might respond in imaginative ways on our own little patch.

I say each of us because no one will experience this period exactly as you will. My proposition is that this evolutionary quickening may ask you to be more boldly yourself than before. To consider that the way you react to changes – inner and outer – is essential, innovative, and contributes in surprising ways to the whole.  Even when you are feeling doubtful; who you are, what you do, and what you choose now, matters.  My work is about navigating unusual times from this perspective.  

About me. I am a licensed therapist with a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology in 1981 from Harvard University. From 1983-99 I trained in Psychosynthesis which is a therapeutic approach rooted in Psychoanalysis, body centered therapy, and spiritual psychology. I began my private practice in Maine and Boston, MA; started studying astrology and tarot but brought them into official practice only intermittently until 2000. For skeptics and newcomers to astrology in particular, I recommend the book, Cosmos & Psyche, by Richard Tarnas which describes beautifully the archetypal dynamics of this collective turning point I’ve referred to. My astrology and alchemy studies continued with Liz Greene at the Center for Psychological Astrology in London from 1999-present. Her books are also an incisive introduction to the psycho-spiritual context for astrology, tarot, alchemy, and archetypal understanding.
